The Ural Social-Economic Institute, the affiliate of the Academy of Labour and Social Relations (Moscow), was founded in Chelyabinsk in 1975 in order to train economists for the Urals-Siberian region. For over 35 years, the Institute has held a steady position in Chelyabinsk, providing the region with high quality educational services. More than 20,000 specialists have graduated from the Institute in this period.

The Institute delivers two types of professional education programs leading to the following degrees:

LABOUR ECONOMY Qualification: Economist Specialization: Labour economy of an enterprise
The course of studies includes the following disciplines: labour economy, labour market, human resource management, legal regulation of social/management and labour relations, scientific labour organization, norm-fixing, analysis and modelling of labour indices, labour statistics. The course provides specialization in sociology of management, personnel management marketing, incomes policy, information systems in social-and-labour management, labour resources economy, economic security, audit and personnel management and control.
FINANCE AND CREDIT Qualification: Economist Specialization: Financial management; Banking
The course of studies includes the following disciplines: finances; money, credit, banking; corporate finances; financial management; taxes and taxation; insurance; budget system of the Russian Federation; equity market; capital investment. The course provides specialization in corporate finances and entrepreneurial risks, short-term and long-term financial policy, investment strategy, foreign investment, crediting and accounts, financial controlling, property estimation, conception and analysis of financial flows; arrangement of commercial banks activity, accounting and operating activities, international monetary and credit relations, banking legislation, banking management, banking information systems, commercial banks activity analysis.
MANAGEMENT OF ORGANIZATION Qualification: Manager Specialization: Corporate Management
The course of studies includes the following disciplines: strategic management, managerial decision-making, management information technologies, antirecessionary management, logistics, human resource management, innovative management, management system analysis, quality management. The course provides specialization in corporate management, financial management and corporate finances, organization of production and business in corporations, documentation supplying in management, corporate planning, state activity regulation in large corporations, project organization and project efficiency estimation.
APPLIED INFORMATION SCIENCE Qualification: IT specialist Specialization: Information systems in economy / public health
The course of studies includes the following disciplines: computers, networks and telecommunications; high-level methods information science and programming; programming languages and basics of algorithm; data processing structures and algorithms; world information resources; databases; information system designing; intelligent information systems. The course provides specialization in object-oriented economic information systems, complex economic analysis, designing and standardization of software and information technologies, information security, network economics, information systems of financial analysis, international standards of financial accounts, information systems of business operation, net technologies.
ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS Qualification: PR/Advertising Specialist in social spheret
The course of studies includes the following disciplines: communication management, market research in PR, organization and realization of PR campaigns, advertising in communication process, telecommunication and computer technologies in PR, PR department administration, modern press-cutting service. The course provides specialization in PR consulting, economic consulting, preparation of PR texts for state organizations, preparation of PR texts in profit-making organizations, media planning in state organizations, media planning in profit-making organizations.
Curriculum in the Institute includes foundation subjects, general and specialist subjects and complies with other European universities curricula, which enables our students to participate in academic exchanges and to study abroad as a part of their course.
Educational Process and Facilities
The Ural Social-Economic Institute trains over 4,500 students. The Institute has State Accreditation and is authorized to issue diplomas acknowledged as State diplomas. Its faculty is an experienced team, over 60% of which are candidates and doctors of sciences. High professional qualification and hands-on experience make them leaders in the scientific fields of economics and management, successfully conduct applied research and investigations concerning intensification and development of enterprises in Chelyabinsk, the Chelyabinsk Region and other regions of Russia. UrSEI's teachers are in high demand in many prestigious federal and regional programs of professional development and training of executives and specialists for market-economy enterprises. They participate in major social and economic projects of the region. Each year, the leading scientists and students of the Institute participate in various science and research conferences of international, republican, and regional scale. Annually students of the UrSEI are granted awards, diplomas, and rewards for participation in Olympiads and contests of various levels.
The Institute has modern facilities for learning: about 80 classrooms including 6 multimedia ones, 12 computer rooms (with about 500 computers), 5 specialized classrooms for studying foreign languages, and automated systems of ACS of the institute. The library information system includes an online catalogue which provides access to both remote and locally-delivered electronic resources. The Institute has an excellent reputation for academic achievement and innovation.
Partnerships
The Institute is constantly developing scientific, information and industrial partnerships in several directions. The scientists of the Institute are members of Thesis Committees for taking Doctor Degrees and Candidacy Degrees, scientific supervisors and consultants.
The lecturers of the Institute participate in work of federal and regional agencies, public authorities and local government, public organizations, trade fairs and exhibitions in the city and in the region. The Institute initiates partnerships with the Regional Government, the Legislative Assembly, Public Chamber of the Chelyabinsk Region, Labour Union Federation of the Region, the South-Ural Chamber of Commerce, The Chelyabinsk Regional Association of Employers to contribute to developing new programs and reviewing the existing ones. This helps to ensure labour-market relevance of the curricula. The lecturers of the Institute carry out applied researches into the development of major industrial enterprises of the region, including Chelyabinsk tractor plant, Chelyabinsk pipe-rolling plant, South-Urals reinforcing and insulator plant and many others. A lot of commercial companies and service firms become partners of the Institute participating in consulting work. The Institute develops close ties with other educational establishments to promote the realization of the national education project, the implementation of quality management system of educational services, the elaboration of joint student job placement strategies.
